Clinton Devon Estates is an 800-year-old family business, responsible for the management and stewardship of around 25,000 acres of land in North and East Devon

Around 3,500 acres is the East Devon Pebblebed Heaths National Nature Reserve, stretching from Woodbury to the Lower Otter Estuary at Budleigh Salterton, providing a unique habitat for nature and wildlife, as well as space for fresh air, exercise and relaxation.

This land is managed by the Pebblebed Heaths Conservation Trust which was established in 2006.

The Estate is leading on a Landscape Recovery pilot in the Lower Otter Valley, partnering with our tenant farmers to make space for nature and people over the diverse landscape of 4500ha of heathland, riparian corridors and productive agricultural land.

Space for nature and for people

In addition to traditional farming and forestry operations, the Estate manages a portfolio of residential and commercial property. Much of the residential property dates back to the 1800s, providing homes to local people who live and work in their local communities.

In recent years, The Estate has been a partner in the development of new open-market and affordable homes at Plumb Park on the edge of Littleham, Exmouth which has provided 53 homes for affordable rent or shared ownership and is under the management of the affordable homes provider LiveWest. Plumb Park has also provided the community with a hilltop park, allotments and orchards.

Clinton Devon Estates was also a partner in a 48-home development in Budleigh Salterton which delivered 19 affordable homes alongside community allotments and received a top national award for Best Partnership Scheme.

Liverton Business Park in Exmouth is owned and managed by Clinton Devon Estates, providing business space for tenants including McDonalds, The Range, Home Bargains, Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service, South Western Ambulance Service, Pets At Home, Raddenstiles Veterinary Practice, Topps Tiles, Howdens, Bradfords and Toolstation as well as units for smaller local businesses.
